Dr. Jinju Chen

Dr Chen is Associate Professor in Biointerface Engineering at Newcastle University, UK. She is a Principal Editor of Journal of Materials Research and Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports. Her research spans nanobiomechanics, antimicrobial surfaces, biofilm control, cell-materials interactions, cell and tissue mechanics. Her antimicrobial surface work includes developing multiscale structures on orthopaedic implant materials and other bioinspired surfaces to inhibit biofilm formation. She has co-developed individual based models to predict biofilm growth, deformation and erosion.
